Furniture all over!

Due to autumn weather, we once again decided to sketch something inside our premises. Theme of the day: furniture in our building.

Sven's sketch of our Steinway (well, sort of; it's an August Förster).

Björn's sketch of a chair. Design by our design department. Somewhat useless, bit nice to look at.That goes both for the chair itself and the sketch (I hope). I had forgot my winsor and newton-box at home and put on colours while cooking my evening spaghetti.
The final result is found below. The spaghetti is unfortunately all finished.

Juha (new member!) sketched our patio.

Anders' (new member!) sketch of the chair made of concrete (also in the patio).

Guest sketchers from Volvo (Anders and Juha)

Sketch it again, Sven!

Why do we live here?

Why the heck did our ancestors stay up here in the far north while the others – the ones equipped with fully functioning brains, probably – went back to the south (sun, drinks with small umbrellas, sunny beaches, hula-hula)?

Well, there is nothing to do about that now. We are stuck here in Eskilstuna, in Sweden.

However, our USK-meetings are great relief – our happy pills – during this depressing season.

Well, due to the bad weather mentioned above, we stayed in our premises to sketch this tuesday.

The theme of today was: "Odd places in our building".

Sven ended up by our piano (under the stairs).

Björn stayed in his room, looking out his window. Crying at the rain.

Be quiet!!!

Yes, it should be really quiet inside a library, but what about outside? Sven's sketch shows the construction work going on outside our city library. It is not easy to to focus, not even when reading Alice Munro's razor sharp novels...

Yes, this tuesday we went to the city library in Eskilstuna. Again. Books are amazing, even from the outside, so to speak. Also, our city library is equipped with an extraordinary café. Perfect for us, Urban Coffee Drinkers!

We did not have much time (as always...), nevertheless, we all accomplished today's mission: to sketch anything from the library, or close by. And still have time for some coffee!

Picture 1: The USK-ESK team are discussing and having coffee. And cake.

Björn ended up by the table here...

...and completed this sketch. More or less..

Julia's sketch of an art work in the library.

Ida's sketch of Julia (who also is sketching).

Karl's sketch of the garden outside the library.

Machines!

Mr. Munktell himself

Johan Theofron Munktell, the technical genius had a lot of ideas. Some of them resultated in the company Volvo BM.

Today, USK-ESK went to The Munktell Museum in order to sketch some of Johan's (and the Bolinder brothers') machines.

To the art museum!

The bridge to the art museum!

Here in Eskilstuna, we are proud of our art museum. Some of us, at least. And also, there is a café/restaurant in the same building – a fact that made USK ESK decide to go there this wonderful tuesday.

The current exhibition (Nordic Art) turned out to be really great. And so was the fika afterwards.

Sven's sketch (from the entrance where this lorry made of paper (?) had been parked.

Karl' sketch shows parts of an installation in the main hall.

So does Björn's sketch, but another area. A bunch of strange (small) men.
Björn's comment: "If there are a lot of small men made of plaster  around, I just have sketch them immediately!"

Björn's models. Small men (children?) made of plaster.

Lasse's sketch

Julia's

Mattias' (new member!) sketch!

Sofia's sketches (from this time and an earlier meeting)

Some more sketches will be published shortly!
